#Ionius also got rid of House Nuvelle

i thought you said you liked monica's character?
Hm?
Have I said that?
Monica is an interesting character, because she is part of the lesser imperial nobility that has, somehow, more values in common with Faerghus out of anyone than with the "higher" nobility of Adrestia - Monica believes she has a duty to her people, that's why she's unhappy because she cannot stay H24 in Enbarr to simp to her heart's content after Supreme Leader, she has to look after her people :(
(note that not even once Linhardt, Heir of House Hevring, ever mention iirc, having to care for the people living in his domain, ditto for Bernie.)
It's another aspect we sort of (thanks to FEH) had with Mercedes too - Adrestian noblemen don't, uh, treat their wives that well (Hanneman's bro in law, Emile's dad, Ionius..) but Mercie's dad, Papa Martritz, apparently appreciated his wife so much that he taught her how to bake, and gave her his recipe for cookies - the one Mercie actually uses!
back to what @maelor321 and I were talking about a potential civil war in Adrestia - if the "great" nobles and the "minor" nobles' priorities are that different, how and why the hell didn't they rebel earlier? Is it because the Great Nobles Families tax them too much or are able to raise their own army or what not to crush them? Or we're supposed to believe Hubert and his 20 Good Men of House Vestra are able to quell any rebellion?
Sadly for us, instead of giving us a more detailed outlook on minor nobility in the Empire and what Adrestia is outside of Enbarr and the top dogs of the Empire... Monica became another Supreme Simp, and a joke.
Yay.
#anon#replies#3 Nopes#in the Empire the Emperor is able to disband a house when its heir is still alive but not yet born#see Martritz#Ionius also got rid of House Nuvelle? after the Dagda failed assault?#like dudes#Robert rebelled for less than that#on top of that Monica has a crest of macuil#and she and her dad were adopted by baron ochs so maybe she also comes from another family or whatnot#why is she one of the few nobles in Adrestia who cares about her randoms?#reducing her to a new cheerlead was one of SB's biggest dickmoves#adrestia stuff

Looking at Nopes' support convos (or at least some of them because even I can't take them all at once lol)
I found the Constance/Lorenz one, and there was only one thing that picked my interest :
Also, you are the heir to House Gloucester, yes? Why would I ever hope to marry into a house of such meager standing?
This is the sort of banter I wanted from inter-houses support!
How dare you! The magnificent House Gloucester is anything but "meager"!
For Lorenz's who's so proud of his house, Constance is basically throwing the worst insult at him.
I do dare and have done! And while I know not of your status within Leicester... House Nuvelle is steeped in tradition, with a bloodline closely guarded and unbroken. I find it hard to believe that joining your house is worth uprooting that.
Interesting to note how Constance thinks the glorious House Gloucester isn't worthy of House Nuvelle (granted she apparently doesn't know what is Gloucester's status in Leicester which is major "wtf", what do you mean Constance, with the noble education she received, doesn't know the name of the major houses in Leicester?? Unless Adrestian education doesn't waste time of foreign houses?) but apparently, per Houses, her family was not opposed to arrange a wedding to Emile of House Bartels - who has considerably less importance than the Gloucesters!
Could it be that, in Adrestia, a good suitor must first and foremost come from Adrestia ?
That'd be... totally fitting with what we know of this place lol
Well, now. I can hardly back down from words such as those. We of Gloucester are legitimate descendants of one of the Ten Elites and inheritors of a Hero's Relic! Long have we held a seat at the Alliance roundtable! Why, we are among the most distinguished houses in the whole of Leicester! We are no less valuable than House Nuvelle—who, may I add, were condemned to extinction by the previous emperor.
What does he mean "legitimate descendants", Gloucester had bastards? Or he means there are other houses who can claim a link to Gloucester (iirc the Ordelias' original crust was the Gloucester one?) but none who shares the same "continuity" as, well, the eponym house?
Sad mention of Best dad who "condemned to extinction" House Nuvelle - but Constance lost everything in 1175, by that time, the Insurrection of the Seven already happened in 1171, and Ionius was supposedly already defanged...
Does it mean Lorenz doesn't know about the Insurrection or got his dates wrong ?
Constance doesn't correct him, hell even in FE16, she seems to have a bone against Supreme Leader when the Insurrection already happened and Ionius was supposedly defanged...
(who gave the order to get rid of House Nuvelle, Ionius, Ludwig or Uncle?)
Anyways, this support is interesting as an inter houses support, which also serves to give a bit more meat about Lorenz's bride hunting and gives us more hindsight on what Constance - and maybe Adrestia at large - thinks of the non Adrestian noble houses.
if Noa was a nabatean and passed down some Macuil vitriol to her descendants, it'd explain why Constance thinks House Gloucester sucks and cannot compare to House Nuvelle
#fodlan nonsense#look at them saying their houses are better#that's the noble bickering we expected in the base game!#I wonder if it was really best dad who terminated House Nuvelle or not#given how Martritz and Hrym were terminated when he was in charge it'd be a similar thing maybe cause by the same man#and yet it feels odd#why would he get rid of the nuvelles now? Granted he might not have known he nor Thales that they had Noa's crest#oh well

I'm procrastinating so have this Nopes!AU nonsense instead, with an Adrestian pretender.
So the setting is the same Nopes, Rhea crashes on Dimitri's couch in Faerghus and all but then -
Aegir Sr manages to escape thanks to some schmucks helping him, led by a lead random who is a Hresvelg bastard (or are they?) with a Crest of Seiros (maybe a cardinal fucked, or this random is a descendant from Willy's 120 children, or just, a far far removed member of House Hresvelg (maybe Ionius's bastard cousin got a kid who got a kid or whatnot)) and they mount a rebellion against Supreme Leader, because she's been stuck in this war so the promise of MAGA in 3 weeks fell flat especially since the nobodies of Leicester managed to put off a fight, when everyone considers them weaklings (it obviously happens before Clout and Supreme Leader join hands).
Hresvelg Bastard wants to sit on the throne and doesn't believe Supreme Leader's MAGA is going to work - maybe they tried to garner support in the backwater reaches of Adrestia (aka not Enbarr) by getting rid of some Agarthans who were there trying to create War Assets or what not, and so, they start a rebellion.
Knowing they can't win alone (even if Aegir Sr gives an impassionated speech telling the Nobles who followed him/the ones who were ignored by Supreme Leader (mostly the minor ones) or who don't like her "centralising policies" that he was injustly arrested, Vestra Sr assassinated and how she turned the scions of all great families against Adrestia's best interests - if she's not taking them hostage thanks to the help she received from Arundel who is the man behind all those war assets and disparitions : can they seriously believe that she had no hand in his experiments when he is a member of her own family? She only kicked him away after he ended his usefulness, like she'll do to everyone else!) Hresvelg Bastard has a bright idea.
Banking on the masses being faithful followers of the CoS - and not giving a fig about Varley and his "new CoS" - they believe they can also rally some people under the guise of the war against the CoS, the Archbishop is a beloved figure for all commoners (who can't rely on anything else but the Church since Adrestian Great Nobles, who all joined Supreme Leader, prefer to remain in Enbarr rather than manage their lands and people) so they end up with a small army of rebellious nobles, and peasants.
Not the army that will be able to topple Adrestia's military.
Maybe they can get help from Brigid and Dagda... sure, Brigid has their Princess used as a hostage by Supreme Leader, but do they really believe they will become something else than a vassal after the war, if Supreme Leader wins?
Granted, Hresvelg Bastard is Adrestian, and ultimately thinks they cannot rely on "savages", and besides, how will allying with "savages" bolster his claim on the throne? Adrestians don't like "savages" especially the ones from the former House Nuvelle, if they have to keep the Nuvelle mages as allies, they cannot rely on Dagdans.
That's where Adrestian Bastard has a master plan : they will join forces with the CoS (not those barbarians! Just the CoS and its knights!) and assist them in retaking Garreg Mach, on the only condition that the Archbishop herself names them the true and only inheritor of Adrestia's long legacy, starting with Great Emperor Wilhelm, and recognise them as Adrestia's ruler, while Supreme Leader will be just a mere usurper.
(details could be fleshed out later on about where Adrestian Bastard gets their legitimacy from, or to throw shade on Supreme Leader and her direct ascendants).
Thus the CoS - and the Barbarians, since they're allies ! - receive a missive from some loser, backed up with the Empire's fallen nobility and some militia, who suggests they can help them defeat Supreme Leader, only if the Church of Seiros crowns them Emperor at the end of the war.
Rhea immediately wants to refuse, it is not her place to crown people or what not, besides humans will find another way to complain about it and she only wants to return to the monastery.
Besides she gave a crown to Willy, and his descendants ruined everything he stood for and are coming for her head (she heard rumours about the Empire wanting to strike "inhuman beasts" and got wind of Adrestia's "information campaign").
The Kingdom doesn't share her worries (of course since she just told them "nah") and welcomes any new ally... if this person becomes the new Emperor, maybe they could draft some treaty cementing borders between Faerghus and Adrestia once and for all, and stop this war - since the current one seems hell bent on conquering them.
Matthias Gautier has doubts though, would Adrestians accept a puppet Emperor on the throne, controlled by the CoS? Besides, it's not like Adrestia ever respected their borders to begin with, so it's hopeless to hope this new Emperor will respect them. But at least it will create a decoy in Adrestia, which will divide the Imperial Army's attention.
Rodrigue disagrees though, if this is a chance to get a peaceful resolution with Adrestia - or a new Adrestia - they could seize it, sure, Adrestia always scorned them and their borders, but if it gives them at least 15 to 20 years of peace and no skirmishes, they should take it, especially if it ends this current war faster.
Dimitri drafts a letter to propose terms to a potential agreement, Rhea reluctantly agrees (she knows it's going to end up in a disaster, but maybe by that time, Sothis would have solved things out or something?) because it might end the current war.
The agreement is definitely canceled when Hresvelg Bastard gives their reply, calling Dimitri a "reasonable barbarian", and accepts to make him the governor of "Northern Adrestia" if he swears fealty and allegeance to the Empire.
They also replied that the Archbishop shall crown them Greatest (tm) Emperor of Fodlan, marry them and "restart the divine dynasty that was broken since Great Emperor Wilhelm's passing" that will rule over the continent from Garreg Mach which will become the new capital.
Rodrigue sighs while Matthias wonders what was he even expecting from Adrestians to begin with?
Dimitri is tempted to accept "The war will end!" but looking at the stares of everyone else, he frown and hands the letter to Rhea, who hands it to Seteth.
Seteth throws it in the nearest chimney.
Sylvain still asks if they can find some sort of common ground, they have a common foe, everything else comes "later" ? Felix frowns though, if this person's plan is ultimately to make Faerghus a vassal or what not, the Kingdom helping them would be seen as acceptance of Adrestia's lordship over them. Besides, how to tell their friends and people that they are going to die to save the ass of someone who thinks they're barbarians??
Dimitri notes that he has a point, it would be unreasonable to lend Faerghus' help to people who spits on them. But what about the Church? Regardless of the "restarting dynasties" thing they promised to liberate Garreg Mach, right?
Seteth gives the longest sigh ever, but mostly says that if they have to retake Garreg Mach, it will be on their own terms, and those don't include siding with someone who only sees them as a commodity to bolster their claim, or who intends to target the ones who offered their help when asked.
Rhea thus writes the reply, enraging Hresvelg Bastard because hey, their plan was well-thought and they even allowed the Blaiddyd governance over Northern Adrestia! Ludwig says maybe they should make concessions about this "Northern Adrestia" thing, they could still MAGA but later, first they should retake Adrestia? Surely the people would enjoy them putting an end to this disaster of a war, and bringing them back peace (and food).
"Sure, but within ten years of the end of this war, we invade Leicester!"
So Ludwig leads the negotiations instead of his new liege (with some of their orders though, like "do not make it so those barbarians think we're bowing our heads to them!") and agrees to Dimitri's original terms (there's no mention about Leicester's borders though!), using the argument that as soon as there is peace they could "discuss the future of their two countries", and how "taking out the Usurper takes precedence over anything else" for the sake of their people.
Ludwig mourns his friend Igor and wonders how House Vestra managed to, well, manage Hresvelg Emperors if they are all like the one he found, but using his years of political experience, manages to organise a meeting between all parties, Hresvelg Bastard, King Dimitri and the Archbishop herself.
Aegir made Hresvelg Bastard swear not to call the Faerghians barbarians - but they broke that promise within 5 minutes when they congratulated Dimitri on his timing and fashion sense (the shiny armor!) saying something like "I never expected a barbarian and savage northerner could be on time and wear anything else than rags".
Ludwig was dying on the inside, and knew everything would be ruined when Gautier reminded Hresvelg Bastard that if they are asking for the Church's aid, they are also asking for the Kingdom's help since they are allies, so they should play the part if they want their assistance.
Hresvelg Bastard fumed, frowned and stomped the ground in frustration - what is that bum even saying??? - but Rhea cuts them before they can even say a thing, if taking Supreme Leader out is also their objective, then they shall ally but only on that grounds, the Church will offer assistance to the Adrestian population - to the best of its abilities - once the war will be over, but Garreg Mach remains a CoS territory, and Adrestia will swear a blood oath that it shall never invade nor try to conquer its neighbouring nations.
"Even Leicester?"
Ludwig screamt inside because he always scorned the faith magic classes at the Academy, and only now realises learning the "Silence" Spell could have had its uses, but he gives his best assurances that they totally agree on never attacking Faerghus ever again.
Matthias shrugs, Leicester isn't Faerghus, and those bastards never answered their call for help, Rodrigue frowns though, this will create another war. And Nopes!Dimitri only wants what is best for Faerghus, so he is on the verge of agreeing, but Rhea glares at the Hresvelg Bastard.
"Leicester, Faerghus, Brigid and even Dagda."
"It's an acceptable proposal your Majesty! Adrestia can still thrive without ruling over the continent and beyond! We can still lead Fodlan in other ways, look at those barbarians, they don't even know how to appreciate fine culture ! They eve, eat their meat boiled or grilled! Our refinement and culture is ways above theirs, and copied by those of Leicester, who envy us!"
Maybe, maybe, this will save the meeting and those "alliance" talks and discussions?
Hresvelg Bastard reluctantly accepts to "bring the wonders of Adrestian refinement" to the Faerghus and the Church in exchange for their military assistance against Supreme Leader.
Dimitri thinks those terms are acceptable - only if Faerghans aren't forced to accept those "wonders" - while Rhea knows it will end in a disaster in 200 years, but if it can stop this war, and if everyone accepts it, then why not.
At the end of the day : Nopes wise, there's a small army who allied with the Kingdom and the Church of Adrestian soldiers led by their own leader (a bit like green units) - their fate depends on the routes picked, in AG Hresvelg Bastard assumes the throne, in GW they're killed when the Srengese-Federation army marches on the Kingdom, and in SB, they followed Rhea in GM thus, died.
#fodlan nonsense#Nopes nonsense#Adrestia thinking they can pull a cultural win in Civ lol#Rhea thinking : this is a bad idea#What's an Hresvelg without dreams of grandeur ??#I didn't have a gender set for Hresvelg Bastard#Whether they know about the Hresvelg true history is a mystery#Weep for Ludwig supporting a Hresvelg pretender comes at the cost#Of your sanity lol#Igor is the name I hc'd for Hubert's dad#Matthias being so fed up with Adrestians and always expecting the worst#He's not wrong lol#Fe16#3 Nopes

Fodlan crack AU :
Since the devs loved their asoiaf glazing and look backstories and there’s a chosen one
The Hresvelg had to deal with a VelgHres rebellion, a line of pretenders to the throne.
They also had crests of Seiros, and drama happened, when an Emperor had a minor crest, a VelgHres had a major one.
Curse Emperor Wilhelm and his 120 children, he sired so many bastard lines that rumour says everyone from Enbarr to Lake Teutates descends, in a way, from him.
VelgHres line grew closer to the Southern Church, to get more influence and what happened happened, the Bishop of the Southern Branch supported a VelgHres pretender over a Hresvelg imperial heir.
The Emperor was furious, and even more furious when Franz von Hresvelg, Edel’s great grandfather, lost a tourney against Karl von VelgHres. Karl was also reknown as a local hero for fending off Dagdians mercenary pillaging villages around near Nuvelle when poor Franz couldn’t boast about those feats, he had been busy attending the Officer’s Academy.
Otto VII, pissed with this line of pretenders and the Central Church not chewing the ear of the Southern Branch for meddling in their affairs, promptly banned the VelgHres from the Empire.
It brought civil discontentment, those dunces from the Central Church had the nerve to ask Otto not to put his own civilians to the sword because they were rioting, so Otto gave Rhea the middle finger and invited the Karl and the rest of the influential VelgHres family members to a giant feast. Jeralt came too late, and everyone was slaughtered at the feast while a festive song played in the background.
The partisans of the pretenders were all slaughtered - or put in a circus with wild beasts because it’s an old tradition.
Otto then kicked the Southern Church away, saying he has no need for them since 1/ he descends from Seiros herself so he’s closer to the divine than those people and the current Archbishop 2/ they’re trying to steal his power by supporting pretenders.
Everything went well until Franz’s heir (it was believed to be a curse thrown by the remaining VelgHres), who would later be known as Ionius VIII showed no crest at birth. The Imperial line became very worried, because no crest means no legitimacy on the throne and if another pretender comes from nowhere with a crest then they’ll be toasted! Hopefully Ionius VIII’s son - our Ionius - had a minor crest so everything was alright. Besides, Otto’s feast is a deterrent to prevent any rebellions.
Hanneman’s first device was used by the nobility to discover if a child had a crest or not, but then he was pissed, and decided to use it to help randoms, maybe they could become nobles if it was discovered they had a crest?
Sadly, he happened in a village in the suburbs of Enbarr where a woman just gave birth to twins, who looked exceptionnaly bland. But one of them had a major crest of Seiros.
The woman and her husband despaired, thinking they’d be Otto’d if the Imperial family or the Vestra net of spies heard about this. Hearing their plight, Hanneman tried to find a place where to hide the Major Crested baby, but didn’t find any. If the child ends up in a foreign nation, imagine what would the Emperor say, a pretender uses “off-shoots” of the Empire to build an army to conquer Adrestia!
In despair, he asked a nun of Garreg Mach to foster the kid in the monastery. When the Vetra spies arrived in the village, the peasant woman just said one of her child died in childbirth and no one questionned her more.
Hanneman made a right call though, because Ionius’s IX first decision after ascending to the throne was to weed out Great Emperor Wilhelm’s line, meaning getting rid of Seiros crested babies who weren’t born to the Imperial family. Ionius really really wanted to become the Emperor of the Fodlan, so he had to be the only one able to do it, even if he had a frail constitution. One of his thrice removed cousin married in the Hrym house? And they wish to leave his Empire because they disagree with his policies? The main bloodline (descending from his cousin) was wiped out.
Disgusted by this, and his brother in law who thought the Emperor was a thoughtful man who wishes to avoid needless conflicts, while claiming crest superiority and how he’ll be able to get closer to the divine when his crested son will be born, Hanneman ran away.
Meanwhile, the chosen one, the major crested baby, was raised as a random orphan in the monastery, and as many orphans there, he was given a job when he became an adult. He wanted to become a Knight when he’d graduate, to travel around Fodlan, but he got failing scores. Rhea took pity on him, and said that as long as he promised to never ever visit Enbarr, she’ll give him a job.
Chosen one still wondered why he couldn’t visit Enbarr, grew a bit curious but did his job admirably, without complaining. Taking pity on him, again, Rhea told him his parents left him here because they couldn’t afford to keep him, but if he wants he can send them letters or even invite them to the Monastery. Not expecting a thing, he wrote a letter, and was surprised when he got an answer, from his brother! Apparently, he too was a military man, and a soldier !
Still his brother was a bit of a douche, saying he was soon going to have a promotion because the imperial military system is way more fluid than that sham order the monastery has - some people in the imperial armed forces disappear randomly but he doesn’t think too much about it.
Ultimately, Chosen one finally managed to succeed in his last exam, and became the vanguard of Garreg Mach, the most important person in the Monastery, the frontliner of its defenses and the wellbeing of the students.
When Hanneman met the dude in the Academy, he was fucking surprised to see the Chosen one, the one who could have thrown Adrestia in the biggest turmoil of the century - be hired as a gatekeeper. He doesn’t even have a special armor or anything of the sort, but at least he looks happy so maybe the dude even ignores he has a crest and takes joy in his job.
At least Garreg Mach doesn’t discriminate in favor of crested ones.
(in CF : the chosen one ran away and died in a fratricide battle against his brother during the assault on Garreg Mach, even if the chosen one had the high ground, the ground collapsed under his foot and his bro finished him).
If FEH doesn’t give me something at least as advanced as this i’m not going to pull for him, i swear
#FE16#Fodlan nonsense#Fodlan au#I know i know blackfyre sounded cool and all but i have no energy left#i'm running out of german kaiser names here#willy stop fucking around they said but no he continued and here we are#Otto wasn't contacted by the mole people so he still thinks he descends from seiros#Rhea's like extra passive 'i'm sure those humans know how to rule themselves'#no they don't#the chosen one wants to visit Firdhiard and Derdriu but not Enbarr#hidden nugget : under his helmet the chosen one is the second coming of willy himself#meaning that he sucked hard but again rhea was fond of him#seteth was here when it happened and disapproved hard but didn't voice a thing#his evil twin brother got a new sword from Thales and told him not to underestimate his power#Is it the Wilhelm hour?#Adrestia stuff
